The Production Process

ONCE YOU HAVE designed your collection, you now have to decide how you are going to get your samples, and then hopefully your orders, made up.

The key stages in the production process are as follows:
  • Designing and developing the collection
  • Sourcing and ordering sample fabrics and trims
  • Making initial patterns
  • Making toiles (prototypes of first samples made in a cheap material)
  • Making up the first samples
  • Selling season (if wholesaling product)
  • Collating all orders taken or deciding on stock required for direct selling
  • Patterns graded in sizes required (if applicable)
  • Orders given to chosen manufacturer(s)
  • Production checked for quality control
  • Orders packed up and shipped ...
