Case Study 2: Large Wholesale SP

Requirements: Most of the requirements are similar to Case Study 1. However, some of the parameters change:

  • Subscriber base— The DSL wholesale provider expects a substantial increase in the subscriber base in the range of 300,000–500,000.

  • ISP’s interfaces— The ISP expects minimal interface from the wholesale provider. The ISP expects the SP to hand off subscribers aggregated on fewer VCs, instead of one VC per subscriber.

  • Subscriber ratio— Based on different ISP’s requirements, the residential subscribers are approximately 70 percent, and small to medium business subscribers are approximately 30 percent.
