SSG Terminology

In order for you to understand how SSG works and what it actually enables the SP to achieve, it is important for you to be familiar with some of the most common SSG terminology.

Uplink/Downlink Interfaces

As Figure 4-33 illustrates, the downlink interface is always toward the subscriber and the uplink interface is always away from the subscriber or toward the core. Later sections explain the importance of this when you want to bind services to certain subscribers.

SSG Object Model
