Service Selection Gateway

When we discussed various access encapsulation methods such as PPPoA, PPPoE, and RBE, at times we made reference to the SSG. This section covers the SSG in detail and explains what it does, how it works, its design considerations, how an SP can benefit by using this feature, and what kind of user experience the end customer sees if their DSL SP is using SSG. SSG functionality was first introduced in Cisco IOS Software for the Cisco 6400 platform, and soon it will be available for other platforms.
