MPLS-Based VPNs

This is a broad section; however, it discusses MPLS-based VPNs with respect to the way they are applied to DSL and specifically to the newly introduced IP DSL switch, which brings the IP functionality into SmartDSLAM as offered by Cisco. Even though this section emphasizes the design and implementation aspect of deploying MPLS-based VPNs with the IP DSL switch, the concept does not change and can be applied to any device that is acting as a PE device. Also discussed are the different architectures used with MPLS-based VPNs along with the advantages and limitations of each. The remainder of this section references an IP DSL switch as a DSLAM with IP functionality. Coverage of MPLS-based VPNs is limited to the scope of this book. ...
