Looking Ahead

This chapter deals with different functional segments in the ADSL model including CPE, NAP, and NSP. Each segment is unique and has different requirements and serves a different purpose in the overall DSL architecture. We discussed the wholesale and retail model with the end-to-end VC and VC aggregation model.

The next chapter discusses different encapsulation methods when ATM VCs are terminated into IP packets. The advantages and disadvantages of each method will be discussed in detail, allowing you to deploy your DSL services with the method that fits best.
