Take Inventory of Third-Party Hardware and Software
If you can’t set up a sync partnership in Device Stage or sync using Media Player, you’ll have to rely on the third-party software that came with the device. This may be iTunes, Zune software, BlackBerry Media Sync, Verizon’s V CAST Media Manager, or similar software. I wish that this were not the case and that I could give you some magical answer for simplifying your life. For the most part, I have to admit I find these programs cumbersome. It doesn’t matter that it’s all for the better good—media rights protections and all—what matters most is that it’s a pain to use and its proprietary. I’m always extremely perturbed when I cannot drag and drop files. That’s the worst.
