Chapter 5. Voice services
This chapter will look at voice application systems integration and deployment issues and options. It will also take a close look at the technologies for producing Text-To-Speech, automatic speech recognition, and telephony control and switching.
Section 5.1,” “Building voice services,” will concentrate on the sub-components of VoiceXML. Section 5.2,”, “Deploying a high-availability system” on page 378 will cover scalability issues. Section 5.3,”, “Engineering new services,” on page 388 will look at the technologies to consider for next-generation voice services. Lastly, Section 5.4,”, “Outsourcing,” on page 400 concludes with a look at outsourcing both development and voice services.
