Grammar scope

Grammars are scoped in, and their precedence is defined by the following order: field, dialog, document, root document, and default event handlers. For matches from multiple grammars, resolution follows the precedence order.

Field grammars are implicitly scoped to a field. They can also be scoped by a link within a field.

Dialog grammars, form and menu, can be scoped as dialog, document, or root document grammars. They can also be scoped by a link within a form or menu. Links' grammars are scoped by the element that contains the link.

Event handlers, which are platform-dependent, define grammars for help, cancel, nomatch, noinput, error, exit, maxspeechtimeout, connection.disconnect.hangup, and connection.disconnect.transfer elements. ...
