Appendix B. HTTP primer

HyperText Transport Protocol (HTTP) is a protocol for client-sever communication between “browsers” (such as Internet Explorer, Netscape, and more recently, voice browsers) and document servers. HTTP is the protocol used between a VoiceXML interpreter and a document server. The VoiceXML interpreter behaves as the “browser” retrieving VoiceXML documents, audio resources, grammars, and ECMAScript resources.
