Mode collapse

Mode collapse is a similar and related way for GANs to fail. In mode collapse, the generator learns one mode in a multi-modal distribution and chooses to always use that method to exploit the discriminator. If your training set has fish and kittens in it, and your generator only generates weird kittens and no fish then you've experienced mode collapse. In this case, increasing the power of your discriminator might help.
