13 Bubble Stream

Introduction

In this tutorial we’re going to create a stream of rising bubbles from beneath the camera. Not overly complex, you may initially think; however, to get the effect right, we’re going to use material-based emissions and a bit of scripting to ensure that the velocities and forces exerted on the particles behave correctly based on their size. Coupled with this, we need to surface the bubble particles and finally shade them correctly, which involves a bit of mathematics to determine the correct Index of Refraction for the assigned material.

Analysis of Effect
