In this section we’ll cover effects ranging from a new mountainous terrain weathering system to snow drifts over the Arctic tundra. By using base procedural modeling techniques, we’ll deform surfaces before blending the materials together to yield the correct result. In addition to procedural modeling, we’ll also design and execute a terrain weathering system within the core 3ds Max software and apply it to a new mountain terrain. Finally we’ll illuminate the environment and add additional effects such as fogging where applicable.
