The first Bugaboo stroller made its debut in the United States on the television program Sex in the City, a popular cable television series that all but defined big-city fashion in the early 2000s. Largely as a result, the high-end Bugaboo brand soon became associated with high-profile celebrity parents, including Madonna, Matt Damon, and Gwyneth Paltrow, to name a few, reinforcing its social function as a parental status symbol.
