Since XML has emerged as the de facto standard for data exchange, an increasing number of organizations, applications, and interfaces expect to receive data in XML format. For example, web services and enterprise service buses (ESBs) frequently use XML messages to facilitate the information exchange between applications or services. XML is the fabric of Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA). A frequent requirement is that new applications need to consume existing relational data in XML format.
