Appendix B. The XML Sample Database

Throughout this book we often use the XML sample database that comes with DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows. This appendix describes how to create the sample database, shows some of its content, and explains how to set up sample tables in DB2 for z/OS.

B.1 XML Sample Database on DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows

Issue the following command at the OS prompt to create the sample database with the database name samplxml:

db2sampl -name sampxml -xml

Without the -name option the default database name is sample. The -xml flag is required to create tables with XML data in the sample database. The relational database schema used for these tables is the user ID of the person who issued the db2sampl ...
