Loosely Coupled Transaction Support

The X/Open XA Interface is an open standard for coordinating changes to multiple resources, while ensuring the integrity of these changes. Software products known as transaction processing monitors typically use the XA interface. DB2 supports this interface so one or more DB2 databases can be concurrently accessed as resources in such an environment.

The XA interface provides two means by which application threads of control (TOC) can participate in a single XA global transaction. From a DB2 perspective, the TOC is the actual logical connection or application. All work performed in these TOC is atomically completed. This means that the transaction completes successfully or it does not.
