Chapter 19. DB2 in the Microsoft Environment

DB2 UDB has supported the Windows environment for many years. Enhancements to DB2 have included support for the operating system, application development environment, database APIs, subsystem support, and Windows certification. A small sample of this support includes the following:

  • Operating system support, such as Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows 2003

  • Windows API support— ODBC and OLE-DB

  • Operating system exploitation— NTFS, kernel threads, and security integration

  • Windows certification— BackOffice certification, Windows 2000 Datacenter Server certification
