Summary
DB2 UDB v8.1 introduces a number of new and enhanced functions for the application developer.
The Development Center and SQL Assist tool both aid the developer in producing functions, stored procedures, and SQL statements. Included with the Development Center are new object creation and debugging tools that give the user improved capability over the old Stored Procedure Builder.
Java support has been enhanced in DB2 UDB with the introduction of a new driver architecture and a native Type 4 driver.
Finally, versioned package support and the ability to flush dynamic statements from memory round out the application development enhancements found in this release.
