RUNSTATS Command Enhancements
Runstats is a DB2 utility that collects statistics on a table or its indexes. The RUNSTATS command in v8 has new options and performs significantly better during statistics collection.
The new ON COLUMNS clause allows you to specify a list of columns on which statistics are to be collected. You can specify the ON KEY COLUMNS clause to collect statistics on columns that make up all of the indexes defined on the table. If the WITH DISTRIBUTION clause is specified together with the ON COLUMNS clause, distribution statistics are collected on the specified columns only (with the exception of columns, such as CLOB and LONG VARCHAR columns, on which distribution statistics cannot be gathered).
