ALTER TABLE VARGRAPHIC
DB2 UDB v8.1.2 extends DB2's capability to alter the length of a VARCHAR column to the VARGRAPHIC data type. You can now extend the length of VARGRAPHIC columns in an existing table without dropping and then recreating the table using the new VARGRAPHIC column length. This also saves having to export the data from the old table, import the data into the new table, and recreate all the objects (such as indexes, views, and triggers) that were dependent on that table.
