Dynamic System Domain Support

Dynamic System Domain (DSD) capabilities have been available for a while with Solaris-based hardware. DSDs allow you to change the availability of hardware resources to the operating system and applications. This enables you to upgrade, downgrade, or exchange components without having to reboot the system.

A script must be run when using DSD support for new resource assignments. This script handles:

  • the approval or rejection of any hardware reconfiguration request from the perspective of DB2.

  • an orderly shutdown and restart of DB2, in case of approved or forced reconfiguration.

Sample scripts, provided for Solaris, are located in the ../sqllib/samples/DLPAR/ directory.
