Dropping Containers from a DMS Table Space

With DB2 UDB v8, you have the ability to drop containers from a DMS table space. This operation is only allowed if the number of extents being dropped is less than or equal to the number of free extents above the high-water mark in the table space. The high-water mark is the page number of the highest allocated page in the table space. This restriction is necessary because pool page numbers cannot be allowed to change as a result of the drop operation. All extents up to and including the high-water mark must remain in the same logical position within the table space, and the altered table space must have enough space to hold all of the data up to and including the high-water mark.
