Automatic Relationship and Association Management (ARAM)
This new feature to DB2 UDB v8.1.2 performs “Automatic Relationship and Association” detection. DB2 UDB has an internal utility that, when automatically invoked through the RUNSTATS utility, will automatically discover relationships between columns (the performance impact to RUNSTATS is unoticeable). These relationships could be referential integrity (RI) relationships or correlation information. The discovery process uses DB2 UDB v8.1.2's new sampling techniques to minimize the resources consumed to do the discovery.
