SQL Access to Snapshot Monitor Data

The snapshot monitor enables you to capture a picture of the state of database activity at a particular point in time (the moment the snapshot is taken). By capturing regular snapshots, you can evaluate the performance of a database system and foresee potential problems.

DB2 UDB v8.1 for UNIX, Linux, and Windows features the capability to capture snapshots using SQL table functions. These snapshot table functions return a table of monitor data, where each row represents an instance of the database object being monitored, and each column represents a monitor element. All of the snapshot table functions are described in Chapter 17.
