SQL Access to Event Monitor Data

Event monitors log data as specified database events occur. For instance, you can create an event monitor to collect monitor data for deadlocks, transactions, and connections. You can use event monitors to alert you to immediate problems or to track impending problems.

As of DB2 UDB v8.1, DB2 can write event monitor data to tables. Prior to v8.1, users had to write their own applications to parse the event monitor data, organize and filter the data, and then archive it. With the event monitor data being directed into tables, it is already being archived and can easily be filtered and analyzed.
