Chapter 17. DB2 AIV Extenders
DB2 AIV Extenders add functionality to interpret, manage, and manipulate multimedia stored in DB2 databases. DB2 Audio Extender enables audio retrieval in SQL queries. For example, a music database may be created for audio recordings. DB2 Image Extender enables image retrieval. For example, visual samples of color and texture patterns may be used as query search criteria. Also, a photographic database can be queried for thumbnail images of all pictures stored in a specific format. DB2 Video Extender enables video retrieval. For example, a news database can store news clips about a specific subject and determine the playing time of each video clip.
