Summary

Net Search Extender improves on the performance and scalability achieved by Text Extender for NGRAM indexes. For version 8, it is more closely integrated with DB2. Most commands can be issued either from the DB2 Control Center or the Net Search Extender CLP. Each database must be enabled to add the new UDTs, functions, and search procedure. Indexes are created on columns that will be searched. Applications call UDFs or a stored procedure to search the text. Indexes need to be updated when the data in the database changes. Any index problems that may occur will generate an error event record in the index event table.
