Summary

DB2 provides a freely available database driver (DBD::DB2) for use with the Perl scripting language. The Perl language provides a DBI that allows application developers to write generic code for accessing a vendor's database, provided that the vendor supplies its own DBD.

As part of the standard packaging method that Perl requires, vendors must supply a CAVEATS file that details any limitations or special notes about their drivers. Be sure to read this file prior to programming your applications.

All of the Perl files and DBD modules are available from the Perl Web site, www.perl.com, but be sure to check DB2's Web site for the latest information at www-3.ibm.com/software/data/db2/perl/.
