Summary

DB2 instances, databases, and data can be administered not only from the CLP, Control Center, and DB2 scripts, but also by using the Administrative APIs made available for ambitious programmers.

Programmers can now code their applications in such a way that serialization of database access is avoided. This is done by the use of the context APIs. CLI applications, however, do not have to worry about context management because the CLI driver manages contexts at the driver level and no context management is necessary at the application level.
