Summary

In this chapter we have examined additional features of the DB2 development environment. One of the most important features for rapid application development and control is the Stored Procedure Builder tool, which can easily create and maintain stored procedures written in either the SQL procedure language or Java.

Java is becoming widely accepted as the next universally used language, and to interact with DB2, there is both dynamic SQL via the JDBC API, and static SQL using the SQLJ. SQLJ lets the application programming use normal SQL without having to learn the complexity of JDBC.
