Image Copies

In order to be able to recover data when there is a problem, you must have a solid recovery plan and a strategy in place for each of the many situations. This plan will include performing image copies on a regular basis. You create image copies of your table spaces and selected index spaces.

Frequency of Image Copies

The frequency with which image copies should be taken depends on the allowable downtime for the primary user of the application. You should determine the clock-time needed if you have to recover your data. If an application cannot be unavailable for more than two hours, you will need to take image copies more frequently than if your application can be unavailable for a complete day.
