OS/390 and z/OS
The IBM System/390 family of enterprises servers use OS/390 and z/OS as the operating system software. The core of this operating system is the base control program MVS. Open standard application server functions which support scalable, secure e-business applications are integrated with the MVS base.
The OS/390 and z/OS platforms can provide scalable, secure processing for different type of workloads in a high-performance environment such as stock trading. The applications can be batch, OLTP, or DSS. The major strengths of this environment include: reliability, manageability, scalability, flexibility, availability, and security.
