Choosing and Using Lenses

A huge number of lenses are now available in Sony FE–compatible mounts, even though only a few optics were available when the company introduced its full-frame E-mount in October 2013. Sony has played a remarkable game of catch-up, and a host of third-party lens manufacturers have joined the fray, so that today your a7 III boasts the largest range of compatible lenses of any competing lineup. Although the number of Sony, Zeiss, and third-party FE-mount lenses is growing, there is a much larger number of APS-C format (non-full-frame), E-mount lenses available, most of which will operate with all full autofocus and autoexposure functions intact.
