I’ve owned every Nikon digital SLR offered since the Nikon D70 (nearly two dozen different models in all), and few of them made the first impression that the D810 and its predecessors the D800 and D800E did. The first time I picked up a 36 megapixel camera, the absolutely stunning image quality threw me for a loop, but I wondered if I was holding a highly specialized camera that sacrificed shooting speed and ISO performance for resolution.
