Chapter 7. Getting the Most from Your Zoom

The 28-140mm f/2.8 zoom lens mounted on your Canon PowerShot G10 or G11 is the “eye” of your camera. It captures the light that’s focused on the sensor to produce the image. Through its zooming capability, the lens changes the magnification of the image, and, indirectly, the perspective of your photograph. The maximum aperture (or f/stop) of your lens also affects your ability to shoot under varying light conditions. The size of the lens opening you choose helps determine the range of sharpness (depth-of-field) and the absolute amount of sharpness.
