15.3. Concept of Object-Oriented Database (OODB)

An object-orientation is a set of design and development principles based on conceptually autonomous computer structures known as objects. Each object represents a real-world entity with the ability to interact with itself and with other objects. We live in a world of objects. These objects exist in nature, in human made entities, in business and in the products that we use. They can be categorised, described, organised, combined, manipulated and created. Therefore, an object-oriented view enables us to model the world in ways that help us better understand and navigate it.
