13.1 INTRODUCTION

Concurrency control and database recovery are intertwined and both are a part of the transaction management. Recovery is required to protect the database from data inconsistencies and data loss. It ensures the atomicity and durability properties of transactions as discussed in chapter 12, Section 12.2.3. This characteristics of DBMS helps to recover from the failure and restore the database to a consistent state.
