Chapter 3. Generic Archiving Methodology

This is a special chapter. It isn't a mandatory read and doesn't give you specific guidelines on database archiving. What it does is convey the message that all archiving activities involve essentially the same steps, and each archivist must answer the same questions. The answers to the questions drive the design of the resulting archive store and practice.

If you want to skip this chapter, go right ahead. But if you are interested in being an archive practitioner, it will help you build a solid conceptual base that will directly relate to your future responsibilities.
