This chapter examines the way that people see and digest information. If you familiarize yourself with the common design conventions described in this chapter, you'll find it easier to create powerful visualizations that contain intelligent (actionable) data. In this chapter we look at principles that make up what is called “Gestalt” theory. It defines how what we see is translated into meaning.
