We discussed Subject Areas in Chapter 3 as a means of providing scope to your data modeling effort. In this section, we’ll go into more detail regarding how to build and leverage Subject Areas in your data model.

Let’s go back to the eMovies example that we’ve used in previous chapters, and that comes with each CA ERwin Data Modeler installation. By default, the model opens to a diagram showing the main <model>, which contains all objects in the model. Even with this relatively small model, you’ll see that the amount of information can begin to become overwhelming, as shown in Figure 8.1.
