Data elements add descriptive ‘flavor’ to the entities in your data model. For example, if we have a Customer data entity, what information is needed to track or describe customers: name, age, gender, etc? This chapter defines the concept of a data element and the three different levels at which a data element can exist: conceptual, logical, and physical.
