Web Development Helper

Web Development Helper is a plug-in for Internet Explorer that has many scripting and networking features. It is a great tool for watching traffic within Internet Explorer. You can display it by selecting the menu option View→Explorer Bar→Web Development Helper, as shown in Figure B-9.

Once enabled, Web Development Helper has a toggle switch that enables it to capture traffic in the Internet Explorer browser instance. Checking the Enable Logging checkbox turns logging on, which shows the traffic from the browser. When you enter the URI in the address bar (from the Chapter 11 ADO.NET Data Services service), the results are logged, as shown in Figure B-10.

You can view the request headers, request body, response headers, and response body by double-clicking the item from Figure B-10. This is a subset of the information that is viewable through Fiddler2 (shown in Figure B-11), but it is simpler in some senses, as it requires less setup work and has fewer options.
