17.1 Introduction

Networks are ubiquitous—ranging from network of computers in the World Wide Web, to connections between users on social networks, from Protein–Protein Interaction (PPI) networks to citation network among authors, from follower–followee network (on Twitter and similar networks) to dependency structure between constituent tasks of a large program.
