One mission for the data that libraries collect is to prove value. Work has been done on return on investment to demonstrate the economic value of the library to the institution. The white paper by Judy Luther, “University investment in the library: what’s the return?” (2008) shows how the corporate library ROI model was adapted for academic libraries for the study at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
