Analysis of variance (ANOVA), also known as the one-way analysis of variance, is generally leveraged if your data includes a categorical variable that is an independent variable (with more than one category). The variable in question should be a normally distributed variable and an interval-dependent variable. ANOVA checks for the various means at the different levels defined by the independent variable.
