I began to manipulate photographic prints after I became dissatisfied with the predictability of conventional use of commercially available materials. By reworking the photographic print with various media and tools, I can add to or subtract from the basic offerings of the print itself, giving it new form and life.

Polaroid SX-70 film is a particularly suitable medium for manipulation. This is not to say that the unmanipulated system is insufficient, but as in any photographic process, the camera and film record only a facsimile of that which reflects light.
