Introduction

This chapter examines the dark side of management (Neider and Schriesheim 2010; Griffin and O’Leary-Kelly 2004) in higher education (HE) by focusing on the management of academics in management and business schools in UK universities.1 In particular, the chapter concentrates on wrongdoing perpetrated by managers while managing academics; that is, the human resource management (HRM) process.
