Not long ago, I had one of those days when I cried, and I cried, and then I cried some more. I was so heartbroken that, apart from the meltdown to which my husband was privy, I wanted to avoid contact with anyone I knew and sought refuge at a nearby bookstore. Wanting some comfort, I sent an e-mail to a friend outlining what had happened, and she immediately tried to call me. I didn’t initially pick up, but she persisted. I finally summoned the courage to answer the phone. Yes, courage. Because I was afraid that in recounting my experience I would again unravel, appearing needy and vulnerable.
