WIJNAND VENEBERG

Storytelling plays a big part in Wijnand Veneberg’s collaged pieces. He is inspired by ‘imaginary and atmospheric images, old prints, black and white illustrations and woodcuts, magical realism and surrealism’. His sensitive digitally created ‘Flying Feathers’ series looks at the relationship between humans and animals, examining themes such as evolution, extinction, resurrection and human influence. It uses images from a book published in 1935 by Ladygina Kohts, who compared her observations of an infant chimpanzee with those of her son.
